Self Acceptance

I’ve seen a lot of posts on social media lately talking about self acceptance. Buried in flowery language they all say something like:

  • Forgive yourself for the past.
  • Accept yourself as you are in the present.
  • Become who you need to be in order to face the future.

Awesome. But…

The implication here is that you have a past which requires forgiving. What about the positive? You also have a past worth celebrating.

The implication is that you’re not enough today. What about the ways that you’re already good enough? You’re also uniquely suited for this moment.

The implication is that you’re not ready to face the future. What about all of the ways that you’ve been growing? We’re on a constant journey to become our best selves.

You are here.

You’re here, right now. The entire universe has conspired to bring you, as you are, to this moment. Face it knowing that you are exactly who you should be right now. Face it knowing that you’ll be someone else tomorrow – the person who is specially prepared for that moment. And on.

You’re enough. Go do something.
