Ready. Fire. Aim.

Oooof late start today for me because my kids are sick (just the normal stuff). On days like this it can be easy to be stressed because I lost an hour of work, and I HAVE to be ready for class at 11:30, 2:30, 4:00, AND give a workshop at 5:30. I’m tempted to just scramble and jump into action on whatever comes to mind first (the thing I happen to be most stressed about).

Instead: I breathe. I follow my system. I start today as I start every day: by creating today’s todo list. Just like every day, I start with a blank document and I copy yesterday’s list LINE BY LINE. I ask myself whether each item deserves to be copied over or deleted. This is the practice that stops me from launching into action without proper planning.

It’s “ready, aim fire” … not “ready, fire, aim.”
